General Questions

We play out in all weathers! The children do have the choice to play inside or out. If we are experiencing extreme weather then we will come indoors to play and in high winds we will not use the woodland area.
We follow the legal requirements for the adult:child ratios. This is 1:3 for children aged under 2, 1:4 for children aged 2 and 1:8 for children aged 3 and over. The ratio for over 3’s with a qualified teacher is 1:13. Although we do have qualified teachers in our setting we very rarely use this ratio as we feel it would not be best practice in meeting the needs of the children.
We have a designated sleeping area in the Rainbow Room and there are calm and cosy areas throughout the setting to take rests. As our day is flexible, the children are able to recognise their own needs and choose to rest when they feel necessary.
No, as each child develops at different stages, we are able to support your child at the right time for them. We have nappy changing facilities, pottys available and child sized toilets. We ask that you provide your child with nappies and wipes, and changes of clothes. We recommend nappies rather than pull-ups if your child is not yet showing signs of being ready to toilet train.
We provide children with a healthy snack during the morning and afternoon session. We offer drinks of milk or water at snack time. Drinking water is available throughout the day for children to access. We currently ask that you provide a packed lunch with an ice pack inside to keep it fresh. We are looking into providing a cooked lunch. Allergies can be catered for.
We will invite you for some settling in visits with your child in the days leading up to their start date in which you are welcome to stay. Your child with be assigned a key person who will take time to get to know your child and spend extra time with them during settling in to build a close relationship and support their needs. As every child is unique the settling process will be different for each child. We are happy to work with you to make the right decision for your child.
We don’t have a minimum number of days that your child must be booked in for. Although we do believe that children settle and are able to build relationships with adults/children more easily when they attend at least two sessions per week.
