Our Learning Environments
Daisy Room
Age 1-2 years
In the Daisy Room, we offer a variety of exciting and stimulating open-ended resources for the children to explore. We focus on the three prime areas of learning. We create a cosy designated sleeping area with mats for when children need a sleep or a rest where they are able to listen to calming music.
The children in the Daisy Room enjoy have daily opportunities for play in the indoors and outdoors.
The children develop curiosity exploring loose parts and engage in messy sensory play!
We adapt the provision for children’s schemas. Schema play is how children make sense of the world, observing and experimenting with cause and effect.
Within this age group we work with each child’s individual needs, if they are active we go to the outdoors, if they need a cuddle there is always a caring practitioner on hand!!
Bluebell Room
Age 2-3 years
In the Bluebell Room, we offer many fun and exciting learning opportunities through playful experiences.
We continue with our focus on the three prime areas of learning.We have a particular focus on child interactions including turn taking and sharing, and supporting communication and language. We use the Wellcomm toolkit and Early Talk Boost to assess and support speech and language.
The children begin to develop their independence at snack time by scooping fruit into their pot and pouring from a small jug. They begin to practice their skills in dressing routines when getting ready for outdoor play.
We offer lots of opportunities for sensory exploration in both our messy play tray and our indoor sand kitchen.
We have opportunities for free flow access to the outdoors throughout the day and in all weathers!
We provide a range of open ended resources, allowing the children to become creative as they explore and learn through play!
Sunflower Room
Age 3-4 years
The Sunflower Room is filled with natural light, with a calming and neutral environment. Our Sunflower Room provides a varied curriculum with a wide range of activities on offer meeting the seven areas of learning in the Early Years Foundation Stage. We encourage children to think of their own ideas during play and activities, asking questions encouraging them to think creatively and critically.
We encourage children to express themselves freely, become resilient learners, supporting them through challenges in learning and play.
Within this room we encourage children to follow our golden rules, tidy away when they have finished play and use manners. Independence is encouraged and supported throughout the day in opportunities such as self service snack, toileting, dressing, accessing resources.
The children enjoy free-flow play between the indoors and outdoors and have circle time at the end of the morning and afternoon session. We follow Phase 1 Phonics which focuses on children’s listening and attention skills, sing songs and rhymes and listen to exciting stories.
We assess the children using the ican Early Talk Boost programme and selected children will partake in the programme for 9 weeks to support their language, understanding and Personal, Social and Emotional development.
In The Garden
There is so much fun to be had in our garden. It is a huge space and a continuation from the indoors which children are able to access freely throughout the free-flow sessions. The Daisy Room have access to a separate garden.
We have a mud kitchen where we make an array of wonderful and creative mixtures such as daffodil soup.
We have a huge sand pit which feels like a mini beach…on warmer days we often bury our feet and legs!
There is space to run, ride bikes, build our own obstacle courses using a range of open ended equipment such as tyres, crates and planks! We have mark making opportunities and story books!
We have a range of construction resources including den making!
The children have opportunities to go outdoors everyday and are able to experience all weathers. Being outdoors enables the children to enjoy the natural environment, seek out fresh air and exercise and enjoy activities on a larger scale.
The Woodland
We are currently developing our woodland area to create a brilliant outdoor learning environment in which we will be able to spend longer days.
With only limited resources, children are given the freedom to explore freely and curiously.
The children have the opportunity to manage and take risks such as climbing trees with the adults close by for support and encouragement. Driven by curiosity and imagination they engage in creative play where the only prop is nature itself.
The learning opportunities in this magical space are endless, it is a place where sticks become wands….trees become pirate ships….and leaves become part of our mud kitchen dinners!!
The Vegatable Patch
Across the car park we have access to the field where we are able to visit and grow our own vegetables with the help of Farmer Dave!
It is also a great space for physical play such as running races, spinning around and taking the large parachute for games!
